IoT
What is Internet of Things?
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of
physical objects/things are embedded with software, sensors, and hardware
boards to create a network to gather and exchange data.
Internet of Things is a combination of
following:
Sensors and Actuators:
This part estimates a physical amount, for
example, sound, temperature, moisture etc. and changes over it into an data to
make the system understand and act as needs be.
IoT Gateway:
Iot gateway is used to receive signals from sensors and upload to the
network using different communication medium such as LAN, Wi-Fi, GPRS and
LoWPAN etc.
Cloud server:
The data transmitted through
gateway is stored & processed securely within the cloud server and used to
perform intelligent actions that make all our devices Smart Devices.
Mobile apps:
Mobile apps will help end users to control and monitor
their devices from remote locations.
Application of IoT:
Hardware Platforms:
- Arduino (https://www.arduino.cc/)
- ESP8266 (NodeMcu) (https://www.nodemcu.com/index_cn.html)
- Raspberry Pi (https://www.raspberrypi.org/)
- Linkit One (http://wiki.seeedstudio.com/LinkIt/)
- Adafruit (https://www.adafruit.com/)
- Intel Edison, etc.
IoT Cloud
Platform:
What is Cloud?
In the simplest terms, cloud
computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the Internet
instead of your computer's hard drive.
When you store data on or run
programs from the hard drive, that's called local storage and computing.
Everything you need is physically close to you, which means accessing your data
is fast and easy, for that one computer, or others on the local network.
For it to be considered "cloud computing," you need to access
your data or your programs over the Internet, or at the very least, have that
data synced with other information over the Web.
Service Models:
Service Models are the reference models on which the Cloud Computing is based.
These can be categorized into three basic service models as listed below:
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
IaaS provides access
to fundamental resources such as physical machines, virtual machines, virtual
storage, etc.
Platform as a Service (PaaS)
PaaS provides the
runtime environment for applications, development & deployment tools, etc.
Software as a Service (SaaS)
SaaS model allows to use software applications as a service to end
users.
IoT
Cloud Platforms:
Distance Measurement Using Ultrasonic Sensor And Arduino
Intruder Detection Using Passive Infrared Sensor and Arduino
Light Intensity Measurement using Arduino and LDR
